We’re obviously not talking about chain burgers here, but about the luscious restaurant burgers that you have to use both hands to hold. These are the ones that, when you sit down to eat them, you better have extra napkins available!
1. Kitchen Notes at the Omni:
“Tennessee Patty Melt”
The “Tennessee Patty Melt” just won Nashville Lifestyles’ Battle of the Burger!
This generous-sized burger starts with a griddled locally sourced beef patty, which is then garnished with homemade pimento cheese, Applewood smoked bacon, Kitchen Notes’ special sauce, and onions that are caramelized in Dickel No. 8 Whiskey. Finally it’s all carefully balanced on grilled Rye, and served with your choice of sides.
Even the vintage interior design of Kitchen Notes is designed with repurposed materials and unique décor discovered at local antique stores and flea markets.

2. Burger Republic: “Tennessee Burger”
Burger Republic’s “Tennessee Burger” is a true taste of the Volunteer State, with a patty of Certified Angus Beef, a combination of brisket, short loin, and chuck, deliciously glazed with Jack Daniel’s Honey Bourbon. And let’s remember that it’s also topped with maple glazed Benton’s bacon, Jack Daniel’s smoked ketchup, American cheese, and onion straws dusted with Memphis BBQ rub. Have a spiked shake to go with it!
This one deservedly won Battle of the Burger in 2014. You have 2 locations to choose from, and they’re both open 7 days a week!

3. The Pharmacy Burger Parlor & Beer Garden: “The Farm Burger”
This trendy spot in East Nashville has a real old-fashioned soda fountain, a biergarten, and some of the best burgers in town. Their most popular offering is the Farm Burger, a Tennessee beef patty topped with Tripp Farms country ham, Glen Farm bacon, a Willow Farm fried egg, and house-made maple mustard on a dense Provence bun made especially for The Pharmacy. Yes, three local farms and a local bakery are represented here! You get either fries or tater tots on the side, and I recommend one of their real soda fountain shakes (made with 100% pure cane sugar) while you wait for your burger.
The Pharmacy’s biergarten is so welcoming and beautiful, you could find yourself listlessly wasting hours at a time without noticing. They also have an impressive selection of beers, and German wurst that’s ground, stuffed, and smoked right there in their kitchen.

4. Rotier’s: Signature “French Bread Burger”
The Rotier family started this restaurant in 1945, in the building that was originally a carriage house for Elliston Mansion. Rotier’s is still run by the Rotier family, and is still considered a Nashville landmark. Their Signature French Bread Burger is their claim to fame, and has won many local and national awards. A delicious fresh ground beef burger, with cheese melted on toasted French bread. Yum!

5. Husk: “The Husk Cheeseburger”
Start with 2 hickory-smoked bacon-infused chuck patties seared on an incredibly hot griddle, which are then scraped off the griddle “diner style.” Top with 3 slices of gooey cheese. Spread a special sauce that contains, basically, every condiment you could want onto a house-made buttermilk and benne seed bun that manages to stay moist and soft even after being toasted on the griddle. Then, assemble with toppings such as partially steamed onions, bread & butter pickles, and local lettuces and tomatoes (when in season). Finally, enjoy!
At Husk there’s a rule about what can go on your plate – if it doesn’t come from the South, it’s not coming through the door.
Regional ingredients cooked on an ember-fired grill create inventive meals in an historic mansion.
