5. Want Symphonic – Rufus Wainwright

Presented in partnership with AMERICANAFEST, Rufus Wainwright makes his can’t-miss Nashville Symphony debut—ONE NIGHT ONLY. Celebrating the 20th anniversary of the release of Want One and Want Two—the two albums that fueled his meteoric rise in the UK and across Europe—Rufus will perform both albums in their entirety, song for song, with beautiful orchestral arrangements performed by the Nashville Symphony.

6. Americanafest Day Stage

NPR Music, World Cafe, and WMOT present Americana Day Stage at Eastside Bowl Wednesday, September 20th through Friday September 22nd. Performances will go on each day from Noon to 5 pm. September 20th will be a special edition of Wired In. All WMOT members, AmericanaFest badge holders and festival wristbands are welcome all week! Let’s take a look at the lineup.

Nashville Things to Do September 18-24 - Musicians CornerMusicians Corner’s Fall Series shines a spotlight on Nashville’s diverse musical landscape with performances from Esther Rose, Rodney Crowell Trio, Emily Nenni, Buddy Miller, North Mississippi Allstars, The Secret Sisters, and The Wild Feathers.

This is a special AMERICANAFEST event, celebrating the 25th Anniversary of New West Records.

This event is FREE to the public and does not require AMERICANAFEST tickets or badges for admission.

8. Dragon Boat Festival

Nashville Things to Do September 18-24 - Cumberland River Compact Dragon Boat FestivalThe Cumberland River Compact’s annual Cumberland River Dragon Boat Festival is BACK! Let the races commence on September 23rd for the 15th year of this beloved river tradition.

This unique event is FREE and open to the public. Join up riverside in Nashville to watch a day of Dragon Boat races in the Cumberland River. Along with food trucks, kid zone, and beer garden there will also be a grassy viewing area for you and the whole family to hang out for the day. Grab your friends and come on down to the Cumberland River and see why the Dragon Boat Festival is a sporting event you won’t want to miss!

9. Pilgrimage Music & Cultural Festival

Nashville Things to Do September 18-24 - Pilgrimage Music & Cultural FestivalA diverse, renowned lineup of Rock & Roll, Americana, Alt-Country, Bluegrass, Jazz, Indie, Gospel, Pop & Blues. Pilgrimage music programming has grown to 6 stages and 60+ musicians.

In addition to the scheduled programming, surprises may include guest appearances, acoustic performances, and unique pairings. Pilgrimage freely mixes genres and musical styles to create an intentionally diverse music experience throughout the day so you can see all of your favorites and discover new ones.
